Pac-12 basketball standings 2013: UCLA falls out of lead

With a loss to lowly Washington State, UCLA fell a half game back of Oregon in the race for the regular-season Pac-12 title. Four teams are still alive for at least a share of the regular-season crown.

The Oregon Ducks now have the upper hand in the battle for the Pac-12 regular season crown thanks to Washington State. The Cougars, who only had two conference wins coming into the day, beat UCLA on Wednesday night to knock the Bruins out of a tie for first place in the conference.

Oregon, UCLA, Cal, and Arizona are all still alive for at least a share of the Pac-12 title depending on how the rest of the season shakes out. Oregon holds a half-game lead over the Bruins, but has two games remaining, including a challenge at Colorado on Thursday night. If the Ducks win out, they will win the regular season title outright.

Cal could have helped its cause last night, but lost its final game of the season at home to Stanford. The loss drops the Golden Bears to a full game behind the Ducks, but if Oregon losses its last two and UCLA losses its finale, Cal can find itself in a tie for first place. Arizona still has a shot as well, needing to win its final game against Arizona State on Saturday, as well as have Oregon and UCLA lose out.

The top four seeds get a first-round bye in the Pac-12 Tournament, and only Arizona doesn’t have its bye locked up. Colorado could still catch the Wildcats if the Buffaloes win out and Arizona loses its finale.
