The No. 25 Memphis Tigers received a little bit of a scare from the UAB Blazers on Saturday, but they fought off a second-half Blazers charge and emerged with an 86-71 victory. The win capped off an undefeated season in Conference USA for the Tigers.

Memphis (27-4, 16-0 C-USA) appeared to be well on the way to an easy victory, taking a 43-28 lead after one half. UAB (15-16, 7-9 C-USA) then started the second half on a 17-2 run, trimming the deficit to just one point with just under 15 minutes to go. However, the Tigers were able to stem the tide, quickly reopening a double-digit lead and cruising the rest of the way.

Joe Jackson was dynamite for Memphis, stuffing the stat sheet with a line of 17 points, 10 assists, nine rebounds and six steals. Chris Crawford led the Tigers with 20 points off the bench, knocking down 5-of-10 from three-point land. Memphis made 10 of 19 from long range on the afternoon.

Jordan Swing led the Blazers with 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Rod Rucker chipped in 16 points in the loss.
