CAA Tournament 2013 results and bracket: First round complete with no upsets

Northeastern had a bye, and the rest of the top seeds won on Saturday in the CAA Tournament.

The first round of the Colonial Athletics Association basketball tournament is in the books, and day one brought no surprises. Northeastern earned a first round bye after posting a 14-4 record in conference this season and winning the regular season CAA title, leaving three games on the tourney’s first day.

George Mason, the four seed in the tournament, kicked off the tournament by taking down fifth-seeded Drexel, 60-54. George Mason moves on to play Northeastern on Sunday.

Delaware and Hofstra took to the court next, and the Blue Hens bested the Pride, 62-57. James Madison then beat William and Mary, 72-67, setting the stage for Delaware and James Madison to match up in the semifinals on Sunday.

Sunday’s games tip off at 2 p.m. with George Mason taking on Northeastern on NBC Sports Network. Delaware and James Madison will tip off at 4:30 p.m., and that game will also be aired live on NBC Sports Network.
