A pair of former Iowa State assistant basketball coaches could be slapped with penalties by the NCAA for what the university calls “major” recruiting infractions, according to the Ames Tribune.

Daniyal Robinson and Keith "Lefty" Moore are at risk of an NCAA show-cause penalty for not reporting attempts to reach recruits via text messages and phone calls, rules that have since been modified to suit modern technology and communication mediums. Four current and former football coaches are also under scrutiny for similar violations.
Iowa State labeled the situation as a "failure to monitor by the institution," according to the report. The school hopes the NCAA will not levy additional punishment, according to CBS Sports' Matt Nolander, but has asked for a two-year probation penalty in the event sanctions are handed down.
Robinson worked under former Iowa State head coach Greg McDermott, who is now at Creighton, from 2008 to 2010. Moore served as an assistant under current Cyclones head coach Fred Hoiberg in 2011 but was dismissed after he was witnessed attending and recruiting at an AAU event, which is against NCAA rules.
