The school received a complaint from the parents of freshman center Ryan Bross, who decided to transfer at the end of the season. University chancellor Thomas Harden acknowledged receiving a letter from Bross' parents, but would not expand on specific details. Sources told Demovsky that the complaint accused Wardle of verbal abuse.
Three other players departed the program during and after the season. The school will try to "determine with the investigation" whether or not the incident involving Bross is a sign of a widespread issue.
Wardle is 47-49 in three seasons at Green Bay. The Phoenix finished 18-16 in 2012-13, good for a tie for third place in the Horizon League.
