Roy Williams and the North Carolina Tar Heels received some great news on Tuesday night as sophomore forward James Michael McAdoo announced he will be returning to Chapel Hill next season. Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports was one of the first to report it on Twitter.
James Michael McAdoo to return to North Carolina for junior season
With McAdoo’s return, the Tar Heels could begin next season ranked in the top 10.

Most expected McAdoo to return, but the official announcement should cement UNC into the preseason top-25 polls once they’re released this fall. The 6’9 forward averaged 14.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and more than a steal a game this past season. McAdoo really turned it on late in the season, scoring 17 points against Villanova in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
McAdoo is expected to join P.J. Hairston, Marcus Paige and several highly-touted recruits next season to give Williams one of the better teams he's had in the past decade. Look for the Tar Heels and Duke Blue Devils to really get after each other in 2014 as they battle for the ACC title.
