Each matchup should be pretty exciting: first up at 7 p.m. ET is a Baylor squad led by likely lottery pick Isaiah Austin and point guard Pierre Jackson, a team that definitely had the talent to make the NCAA Tournament. They face a BYU squad led by Tyler Haws, who might be scoring better than anybody in any tournament right now, as he's scored 28.6 points per game through his first NIT outings. These teams already met earlier in the year, with Baylor winning 79-64 behind 16 points and nine assists by Jackson and double-doubles by Austin and Cory Jefferson -- although Brandon Davies dominated for the Cougars, leading the team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.
At 9 p.m. ET, the second game matches Maryland, with fellow future NBA lottery pick Alex Len and Dez Wells, who has slid in handily to the role of a leading scorer, against Iowa. The Terps advanced to the semis thanks to a 58-57 win over top-seeded Alabama thanks to a block by Len in the game's final seconds. Iowa is the best team in the country not to go dancing, per Kenpom -- they're ranked No. 20 out of all teams in the country right now -- thanks to a stifling defense and the play of Roy Devyn Marble, who had 24 points in a quarterfinal game against No. 1 Virginia.
