The Iowa Hawkeyes advanced to the NIT championship game with a 71-60 win over the Maryland Terrapins on Tuesday night. With the win, Iowa will face Baylor for a chance to cut down the nets at Madison Square Garden.

The final outcome was never really in jeopardy for coach Fran McCaffery. The Hawkeyes hit some tough shots early and moved out to a double-digit lead midway through the first half. Maryland never got the deficit to less than six down the stretch, and strong free throw shooting halted any ideas the Terrapins had of making a final-minute comeback.
Roy Devyn Marble led the Hawkeyes with 21 points and nine rebounds. Whenever they needed a big basket down the stretch, he was their go-to guy. Eric May put together a solid overall effort as well, chipping in with 12 points, four rebounds and four assists.
As a team, Iowa shot 42 percent from the field and turned the ball over just six times. They forced Maryland into 17 turnovers.
Alex Len was one of the few bright spots for Maryland, putting up 16 points, bringing down nine rebounds and blocking six shots. Nick Faust, who had 14 points, was the only other Terp to reach double figures in scoring.
Iowa and Baylor will square off for the NIT championship on Thursday night at 9 p.m. ET.
