Crawford reportedly considered transferring after head coach Bill Carmody was fired after the Wildcats finished with a 13-19 record. Missouri and Marquette were potential destinations for Crawford, who decided to stay in Chicago after buying into new head coach Chris Collins' agenda:
"I can't wait to be on the court with my Northwestern teammates again this upcoming season. Coach Collins has brought great energy to the program and we all believe in his vision."
Crawford led the team in scoring with 13.5 points per game prior to the injury. He earned third-team All-Big Ten honors after the 2011-12 season, during which he averaged 16.1 points on 48.4-percent shooting. Crawford was named the conference's freshman of the year following the 2009-10 season. He enters his senior season ranked 10th in school history in career scoring with 1,418 points.
