Fifth-year senior Maurice Creek won't be returning to Indiana, saying he'll seek more playing time, the second upperclassman to announce his transfer in the last few weeks.
Maurice Creek to transfer from Indiana
Creek will transfer from Indiana, becoming the seventh player from last year’s Big Ten champion team to graduate or leave. It opens up a scholarship for Tom Crean and allows the oft-injured guard to seek more playing time in his final year of eligibility.

Creek had started all 12 games as a freshman, and looked like the real deal, scoring 31 points against Kentucky and averaging 16.4 points per game. But midway through what looked like it might have been a one-and-done season for the talented 6’5 guard. Then, as a sophomore averaging 8.3 points per game, he’d fracture it again. As a junior, he tore his Achilles tendon, picking up a medical redshirt. This past season, he played deep bench minutes, averaging just 1.8 points per game. Due to the redshirt, he retains a year of eligibility and can play elsewhere immediately, hoping to regain his freshman touch.
Just a few weeks ago, rising junior Remy Abell had transferred away from the Hoosiers. When you consider the team will also lose Cody Zeller and Victor Oladipo to the NBA, as well as Jordan Hulls, Christian Watford, and Derek Elston to graduation. But Tom Crean is smart: he'd already gotten six players, including four-star power forward Noah Vonleh, four-star center Luke Fisher, and four-star small forward Troy Williams to commit to the Hoosiers, anticipating Zeller and Oladipo leaving early. And he's still on the recruiting trail for more players for next year's class. Abell's departure brought the Hoosiers down to 13 players, the amount the NCAA allows. Creek's exit has them one under the limit, and allows them to bring in another freshman next season.
