March Madness 2013: Experts all backing Louisville against Wichita State

Few are giving the Wichita State Shockers a chance when they face Louisville in the Final Four Saturday, but do they have the right ingredients to pull the upset?

The NCAA Tournament’s final weekend is set to begin Saturday, when Louisville and Wichita State meet in the first of two exciting Final Four matchups. Tip-off is set for 6:09 p.m. ET and can be seen on CBS.

When these two teams do take the court, it’s no surprise that most experts are pegging the Cardinals as the heavy favorites. All four of CBS.com’s national writers have selected Louisville, the No. 1 overall seed in this tournament, to beat Wichita State. The Shockers stunned the college basketball world by advancing out of the West and beat the region’s No. 1 seed, Gonzaga, and No. 2 seed, Ohio State, to get to the Final Four.

But while most like Louisville to cruise to the win, at least one national writer is giving Wichita State a chance to notch the victory on Saturday night.

NBC Sports’s Rob Dauster believes there are three key ingredients needed to defeat Louisville, and Wichita State has two of them.

Here is Dauster’s take on Saturday night, with his thoughts coming via College Basketball Talk:

The three things you need to be able to do to beat Louisville are get to the offensive glass, cut down penetration in the half court and avoid turnovers against their press. WSU gets to the glass and they are a tough, physical defensive team. The problem? They struggle with turnovers. Not a good thing against the Cardinals.

The winner of this game will advance to Monday night’s championship game and take on the winner of Saturday’s second semifinal between Syracuse and Michigan.
