Rodney Purvis didn't take long to decide his next destination, as the former high school All-American has chosen UConn less than a week after being released from NC State, according to CBS Sports' Jeff Borzello.

Kevin Ollie will get a former McDonald’s All-American for his team, as NC State’s Rodney Purvis will play for UConn after sitting out a year for transferring.

It’s not particularly surprising: The Huskies were second to the Wolfpack when Purvis made his college decision in 2011, and NC State blog Backing the Pack named UConn immediately as an early favorite when they heard the news Purvis would be leaving.
The 6'3 guard never really meshed in his one season at NC State. He began in the starting rotation alongside Lorenzo Brown, but T.J. Warren ended up taking his spot in the rotation, and he didn't play more than 20 minutes in his final five games. With Brown graduating, C.J. Leslie declaring early for the NBA Draft, and Purvis transferring, there won't be a whole lot of talent on a team some thought could win the ACC this year.
Meanwhile, UConn is gearing up to hold court in the newly named American Athletic Conference. They'll be able to qualify for the NCAA Tournament next season for the first time under Kevin Ollie. Shabazz Napier will graduate after the upcoming season, and after that Purvis will slide in to join Ryan Boatright and Omar Calhoun, who will be a senior and a junior for the 2014-2015 season.
