CBI 2013 results: Santa Clara beats George Mason, 80-77, wins CBI title

Santa Clara used a second-half rally to beat George Mason and win the 2013 CBI championship.

The Santa Clara Broncos are your 2013 College Basketball Invitational champions. The Broncos defeated the George Mason Patriots, 80-77, to claim this year's title.

Santa Clara didn’t start the game off so hot. They shot only 37.9 percent from the field in the first half and George Mason out-rebounded them, 25-12, while forcing 11 turnovers. The Patriots went into halftime up, 37-33.

The Broncos started to turn things up after halftime. They made 18 of 29 field goals in the second half and held off a late Patriots rally to secure the victory. Santa Clara shot an even 50 percent for the game.

Kevin Foster and Marc Trasolini led the Broncos with 24 and 20 points, respectively. Evan Roquemore added 19 points and led the team with seven assists. Sherrod Wright had a double-double for the Patriots, scoring 24 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The Broncos finish the season with a 26-12 record, good for fourth place in the West Coast Conference. This was their first appearance in the CBI.
