With Louisville on the wrong side of a run to begin the second half, the Cardinals responded with a couple of big three-pointers. The only problem: Their vaunted defense isn’t looking so great.
Final Four 2013, Wichita State vs. Louisville score: Shockers continue to stun Cardinals
Cleanthony Early and Carl Hall are giving Louisville a lot of problems on the defensive end.
Wichita State has been able to get to the rim with ease, and they’re controlling the glass on both ends. If the Shockers go on to win, they’ll look back at an offensive rebound that led to a three-pointer from Cleanthony Early as a possible changing point in the game.
Louisville isn't going away, though. Tim Henderson, a little-used guard off the bench, drilled two three-pointers in a matter of 45 seconds to keep Louisville within single digits. At the 12-minute timeout, the Cardinals trail 47-41.
With 12:28 left, Gorgui Dieng picked up his fourth foul on a questionable blocking call. That's a huge blow for Louisville, and coach Rick Pitino will really have to be careful with his defensive stalwart down the stretch.
