With a spot in the national championship game up for grabs, an instant classic has broken out in Atlanta.
Louisville vs. Wichita State score update: Cardinals reclaim lead, 60-58
The Shockers seem to be collapsing a bit down the stretch.
Louisville took their first lead in seemingly forever after a couple of clutch shots with under seven minutes to go. Chane Behanan hit a jumper to cut the deficit to two, and after forcing a turnover, Luke Hancock drilled a three from the corner to put the Cardinals up, 56-55.
Wichita State came right back. After a scramble to get the ball, Carl Hall hit an and-one runner in the lane to reclaim the lead for Wichita State.
With the score tied 58-58, an errant inbound pass led to a fast-break layup for Russ Smith to give the top-seeded Cards a two-point advantage. Sensing that momentum could be shifting, the strong Louisville contingent at the Georgia Dome erupted.
It seems the Shockers may be unraveling a bit here in the closing minutes. This is a team that has refused to go away throughout the NCAA Tournament, but this is easily their biggest challenge yet.
With 3:50 left on the clock, Louisville leads 60-58.
