The Michigan Wolverines wasted little time establishing themselves in the paint, as two vicious blocks from Mitch McGary ended fastbreak opportunities for the Syracuse Orange. Neither team scored a point until the 18:17 mark when Tim Hardaway Jr. drained a three-pointer.
Michigan vs. Syracuse score update: Game tied 7-7 at first TV timeout
Both teams are off to a relatively slow start in the Final Four.
On offense, Michigan mostly stayed on the perimeter to take advantage of the Orange’s 2-3 zone, but they’ve been erratic, making just 3 of 10 of their field goals. National Player of the Year Trey Burke has been held scoreless so far. The one big advantage Michigan has had is in offensive rebounds, but they haven’t been able to capitalize on their second chances.
The Wolverines and Orange are tied 7-7 at the under-16 TV timeout.
