Louisville entered the tournament as the top-overall seed and hasn’t disappointed, advancing all the way to the championship. The Cardinals had their toughest game of the tournament on Saturday against Wichita State, the nine-seed from the West Region that made a surprise run all the way to the Final Four. Prior to facing the Shockers, the Cardinals knocked off North Carolina A&T, Colorado State, Oregon, and Duke in the Midwest Regional.
Michigan advanced to the championship game as a four-seed out of the South Region. On Saturday, they held off another four-seed in Syracuse, holding off a late Orange charge to win 61-56. In their South Regional, the Wolverines topped South Dakota State, VCU, Kansas, and Florida.
