Andy Enfield hires Jason Hart away from Pepperdine

On Tuesday, USC head coach Andy Enfield named Pepperdine assistant Jason Hart to his staff. A California native and NBA vet, Hart should help bolster the Trojans’ West Coast recruiting.

In a quest to bring some “Dunk City” excitement to the West Coast, new USC basketball coach Andy Enfield has named Pepperdine assistant coach Jason Hart to his staff. Hart’s hire comes just one day after rumors surfaced that San Diego State assistant Tony Bland was considering taking a job at USC as well.

The news of Hart’s decision was first announced via the Twitter feed of Pepperdine head coach Marty Wilson. Wilson tweeted the following on Tuesday morning.

As a former college star at Syracuse and NBA player, Hart is a solid hire for Enfield’s first staff, and someone who should be able to use his West Coast ties to help the Trojans in recruiting.

Hart played his high school basketball at Inglewood High School in Los Angeles, before attending Syracuse from 1996-2000. After a 10-year NBA career, Hart returned to California to coach local high school Taft, leading them to a City Section Division I title in 2012. Hart took his most recent job at Pepperdine prior to the 2012-2013 season.

Enfield was named USC’s head coach on Monday, April 1 after leading Florida Gulf Coast to an improbable Sweet 16 run.
