Michigan’s Spike Albrecht came out of nowhere to take over the championship game. Luke Hancock led Louisville right back into it, however, and the Wolverines lead 38-37 at halftime.

Trey Burke got the scoring started early for Michigan, knocking down the Wolverines' first seven points. Louisville matched him score-for-score in a fast-paced start to the game. Once Burke hit the bench for a breather, however, Albrecht took over the game. The freshman guard drained four three-pointers to help the Wolverines pull away early. He is now 9-of-9 behind the arc for the tournament.

Louisville attempted to slow down the game, but Michigan has been moving at a lightning-fast pace, never letting the Cardinals’ defense get set up. A 13-4 run gave the Wolverines their biggest lead of the game with about four minutes left in the half.
Louisville refused to go away, however. Luke Hancock single-handedly put the Cardinals back in this game, scoring 12 points in just 90 seconds to bring the Cardinals back within one. Montrezl Harrell briefly put the Cardinals ahead with a monster jam, but Glenn Robinson III sank two free throws to send the Wolverines to the locker room up by just one.
Michigan is shooting 50 percent from the floor and is dominating the glass battle, out-rebounding Louisville 16-12. Mitch McGary leads the team with three rebounds and Tim Hardaway is dishing out three assists.
The Cardinals made 46.2 percent of their field goals. Russ Smith has had a quiet evening so far, being held to four points and shooting just 1-of-9 from the field.
