Michigan vs. Louisville score update, NCAA title game: Wolverines lead 46-42 with 16:54 to go

Michigan’s offense hasn’t wilted so far after a hot first half.

USA TODAY Sports

The Michigan Wolverines' hot shooting hand carried over into the second half, and they lead the Louisville Cardinals 46-42 with 16:54 to go in the national championship game.

Wayne Blackshear opened the half for the Cardinals on a slick screen play that got him a reasonably open three from the left side, which he rattled in 15 seconds into the half. Michigan's Glenn Robinson III countered with a 16-footer to tie the game back at 40.

Trey Burke re-entered the game after sitting 14 minutes in the first half in foul trouble -- during which Spike Albrecht took over the game and captivated the entire Internet with his 17 first-half points -- and hit a 3-pointer with 17:47 left.

Russ Smith did not start the second half for Louisville. He was 1-of-9 from the floor in the first half and re-entered the game with 18:32 to play.

Michigan held a 38-37 halftime lead. The Wolverines led by as many as 12 points at 35-23 with 3:24 left in the first, but Louisville closed the half on a 14-3 run.
