USA Today released its final coaches’ poll for the 2012-13 college basketball season on Tuesday. To nobody’s surprise, Louisville is at the top and received all first-place votes for winning the national championship game on Monday. Michigan, the runner-up, finished at No. 2, and Syracuse jumped from 18 to 3 for its Final Four run.
College basketball rankings: Louisville, Michigan top final coaches’ poll
As expected, Louisville is at the top of the final coaches’ poll after winning the national title. The big surprise is Wichita State finishing at No. 4.

The biggest surprise, however, is a team that has consistently lived up to its nickname. Wichita State, which was previously unranked, finishes the poll at No. 4 after reaching the Final Four for the first time since 1965. The Shockers are the highest ranked mid-major team.
Gonzaga, the previous No. 1 team, tumbled down to No. 12 after being bounced from the tournament in the third round. Georgetown also fell from 8 to 17 for losing in the second round. The team that upset them, Florida Gulf Coast, finished at No. 25, capping off a dream season.
