C.J. Wilcox injury: Washington G undergoes foot surgery

For the second straight season, C.J. Wilcox was nagged by a stress fracture. The most recent, in his left foot, was surgically repaired on Friday, but he should be ready for the start of the 2013-14 season.

Washington Huskies guard C.J. Wilcox underwent successful foot surgery on Friday, according to a news release by the school (via The Seattle Times).

Wilcox began wearing a protective boot on his left foot in early February after being diagnosed with a stress fracture. He played the remainder of the season, although he sat out the final two months of practice for what head coach Lorenzo Romar called "preventive measures."

Wilcox scored less than 10 points in four of his last 11 games. He averaged 14 points per contest over that stretch, down from the 18 points per game he was averaging prior.

The 6'5, 195-pound senior from Pleasant Grove, Utah, dealt with a fracture in his femur during the 2011-12 season but still managed to score 14.2 points per game. He finished the 2012-13 season with 16.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest.
