Katin Reinhardt to transfer to USC, according to report

Reinhardt will reportedly join coach Andy Enfield in SoCal with hopes of playing point guard for the Trojans.

USA TODAY Sports

Katin Reinhardt committed to the USC Trojans back in 2010 as a four-star high school prospect. He then flipped his commitment to UNLV, where he played his freshman season this past year. After announcing his intentions to transfer from UNLV in the last week with hopes of playing point guard at the college level, Reinhardt has reportedly decided to return to Southern California.

According to a report from Hoops World, Reinhardt committed to the Trojans on Tuesday night. He will be forced to sit out the 2013-14 season due to NCAA rules, but he will still have three years of eligibility with new coach Andy Enfield.

Reinhardt started 34 games with the Runnin’ Rebels, averaging 10.1 points and 2.5 assists while primarily playing off the ball. He earned a reputation of being a bit shot-happy, making just 35.8 percent of his attempts from the floor. Some college basketball writers have criticized Reinhardt for what they feel is a poor decision.

Once eligible to play in the fall of 2014, Reinhardt could thrive under coach Enfield. The former Florida Gulf Coast coach likes to push the tempo on offense, which plays into Reinhardt’s style of play. He also grants his players a lot of freedom with the ball in their hands, something that likely played a large role in Reinhardt’s decision.
