Former UNLV star Mike Moser will play for the Oregon Ducks this season, as the graduate transfer will play his final season of college eligibility for last year's Pac-12 Champions.
UNLV transfer Mike Moser picks Oregon
Mike Moser will try to replace a bunch of rebounding talent leaving Oregon, as the former UNLV star -- and one-time UCLA bench player -- will join Dana Altman’s squad, hoping to repeat the success of a team that won the Pac-12 Tournament and went to the Sweet 16.

This will be Moser’s second stint with a Pac-12 team: the 6’8 power forward started out his career at UCLA, but transferred out after Ben Howland used him only in deep-reserve situations in the 2009-2010 season. He left after his freshman season, and after sitting out a year due to transfer restrictions, he immediately flourished at UNLV. Just a few games into his Rebel career, he scored 16 points and had 18 rebounds — more than he had in his entire UCLA career — in an upset 90-80 win over No. 1 North Carolina. He’d average 14.0 points and 10.5 points on a team that finished 26-9, earning a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
His senior season at UNLV wouldn't go as well. He'd suffer an injury early, and stud freshman Anthony Bennett would take his power forward spot. His minutes would drop, and he'd only average 7.1 points and 6.1 rebounds in just 21.3 minutes a game. Bennett is now gone to the NBA, a likely top-five pick, but Moser disagreed with the way coach Dave Rice handled his final season at UNLV, and decided to take advantage of the opportunity to play right away elsewhere.
The Ducks could really use Moser after losing big men Arsalan Kazemi and Tony Woods, as well as forwards Kyle Singler and Carlos Emory. Like Moser, Kazemi and Woods were transfers, and like Moser, they were spectacular rebounders. Moser will help replace their presence on the glass. Oregon will still have talent from a team that won the Pac-12 Tournament and made the Sweet 16. Damyean Dotson was the team's second-leading scorer, Dominic Artis and Pac-12 Tournament MVP Johnathan Loyd split point-guard duties -- and with Moser, they should be one of the Pac-12's top squads.
