USC has officially announced the addition of former UNLV point guard Jatin Reinhardt, who will have three years of eligibility remaining starting in 2014-15.

A graduate of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, CA, Reinhardt started 34 of 35 games for the Runnin’ Rebels as a true freshman in 2012-13. He drilled 65 three-pointers last season on his way to averaging 10.1 ppg and 2.5 apg.
“Katin is an exciting player that Trojan fans will enjoy watching,” USC coach Andy Enfield said in a release. “It is great to have a native Southern California player help elevate our USC basketball program.”
Reinhardt left Vegas after just one season because of a desire to play as more of a pure point guard. This went against the plans of UNLV coach Dave Rice, who wasn’t shy about his plans to use Reinhardt mainly off the ball.
“Everybody thinks I want to be a point guard -- that isn’t true,” Reinhardt told CBSSports.com in May. “But coach Rice just said I would play mainly off the ball and I am just not comfortable that way. I averaged three assists a game because I like to pass and can pass and I need to have the ball in order to create, not just stand in the corner or run off screens. I’m not that type of player.”
Reinhardt joins Darion Clark from Charlotte and Pe’Shon Howard from Maryland as transfers that Enfield has brought in to try and inject some life into the struggling USC program. Both Clark and Renhardt will have to sit out the upcoming season per NCAA transfer rules, but Enfield is hopeful that Howard will be eligible immediately.
