Report: West Virginia dismisses center Aaric Murray

The Mountaineers are now left with zero seniors heading into the 2013-14 season.

Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sport

West Virginia center Aaric Murray has been dismissed from the team, according to a report by CBSSports.com.

Murray, who was set to be West Virginia’s only senior in 2013-14, transferred to Morgantown from La Salle, where he averaged 15.2 points and 7.7 rebounds during the 2010-11 season. Trouble found Murray during the season he sat out per NCAA transfer rules, as he was arrested in December of 2011 for possession of narcotics.

In his lone season for the Mountaineers, Murray was as erratic as the team he played for. He showed flashes of pro-potential on certain nights and then looked completely disinterested later that same week. He finished the season with averages of 8.8 points and 5.9 rebounds for a WVU team that went 13-19.

Murray received his degree from West Virginia in the spring, which means he can transfer to any school and be eligible to play immediately during the 2013-14 season.
