Nebraska G Deverell Biggs suspended for 3 games

Deverell Biggs’ career at Nebraska is not off to a good start.

Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

The Nebraska Cornhuskers suspended junior guard Deverell Biggs for three games due to a violation of team rules, the team announced on Friday.

For more on Nebraska athletics, head over to Corn Nation.

Biggs' suspension will cause him to miss the first three games of the upcoming college basketball season, including the Huskers' exhibition game and their season-opener against Florida Gulf Coast on Nov. 8. Nebraska head coach Tim Miles released a statement on Friday regarding the decision:

“We are obviously disappointed in Deverell’s actions. It’s inexcusable. I know he has learned from it, and he will proceed accordingly to improve all areas of his life.”

Biggs transferred to Nebraska from Seward (Kan.) County Community College after the 2011-12 season after averaging 14.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 3.1 assists per game. Biggs chose the Huskers over Oklahoma State, Southern Miss and Utah State before sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules.
