A rough season for Vanderbilt could be turning into a rough string of seasons for the Commodores.

Kevin Bright, who averaged 6.9 points and a team-leading 5.5 rebounds for Vandy in 2012-13, has signed a professional contract to play basketball for the Fraport Skyliners in Frankfurt, Germany, according to eurobasket.com. Bright would have been a sophomore for the Commodores this upcoming season.
Bright becomes the third rising sophomore to leave the Vanderbilt program this offseason, joining forward Sheldon Jeter (5.5 ppg, 3.4 rpg) and guard A.J. Astroth (0.4 ppg, 0.6 rpg), who have both announced their intention to transfer. The departures leave head coach Kevin Stallings without a single player from his 2012 recruiting class.
When contacted about the news by The Tennesseean on Monday morning, Stallings responded via text that he had “not been told that by (Bright) but nothing would surprise me.” The coach added that the 21-year-old had returned to Germany last week to be with his mother after she suffered a nervous breakdown.
Vanderbilt is coming off of a 16-17 season in which the missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009. Bright’s departure leaves the Commodores with just 10 scholarship players.
