Syracuse planning ‘special day’ for home game against Duke
SU is reportedly considering moving its court to the center of the football field when Duke comes to town, which could allow for 50,000 spectators to pack the Carrier Dome.

When Syracuse hosts Duke (on a date to be determined), the school is considering moving its basketball court to the middle of the football field, which would allow for more than 50,000 spectators in the Carrier Dome to have a view of the action. This according to a report from the Syracuse Post-Standard.
Making this move would likely shatter the school’s previous on-campus attendance record of 35,012, which was set last season when arch-rival Georgetown paid its final visit to the Dome.
“The schedule hasn’t been released yet, so I can’t confirm it or deny,” SU senior associate athletic director Joe Giansante told the Post-Standard. “We’re looking for ways to celebrate our inclusion in the ACC. Obviously, when Duke comes to town, it’s going to be a special day.”
The rumor of a “special” event planned for the Duke game gained even more traction on Wednesday when ESPN analyst Dick Vitale shared the following tweet:

Syracuse led the nation in total attendance last season, and ranked behind only Kentucky in average attendance.
