Jahlil Okafor, who is widely regarded as the top prospect in the 2014 recruiting class, has narrowed his list of schools down to eight: Arizona, Baylor, Duke, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State. and Ohio State.

Okafor said he will commit to one of these schools before his senior season begins in a recent interview with Hoops World. If he does indeed commit sometime in October or early November, he would buck the trend of recent No. 1 prospects delaying their decisions until the spring.
At 6'10 and 265 pounds, Okafor is a true center with a knack for protecting the rim with his long arms and large frame. Despite being so big at the age of 17, he has soft hands on the offensive end and gets up and down the floor with ease. Some scouts believe he could be the No. 1 pick at the 2015 NBA Draft if he has a strong freshman campaign in college. He helped Team USA's U-19 team win a gold medal over the summer.
Okafor and Tyus Jones, the top-rated point guard in the 2014 class, have discussed the idea of being a packaged deal for one university. They believe there’s around a 90 percent chance they both commit to the same school. There were also rumors that Okafor and Cliff Alexander, another top-five prospect out of Chicago, could be a package deal, although Alexander recently downplayed the talk. That will be another key storyline to keep an eye on this fall.
