Jaquan Lyle, a five-star shooting guard out of Huntington, West Virginia, decommitted from Louisville on Friday night. Lyle gave his original pledge to the Cardinals and head coach Rick Pitino in June.

Lyle is regarded as a top-20 prospect and one of the best shooting guards in the 2014 class.

It is unclear exactly why Lyle decided to part ways with Louisville when he did.
About 30 minutes prior to Lyle announcing his decision on Twitter, Jeff Borzello of CBS Sports tweeted that Lyle’s high school coach informed him that he was still set on playing for Louisville next year. Something obviously changed, and now Lyle becomes one of the top uncommitted recruits left for the 2014 class. 24/7 Sports has Lyle ranked as the 19th best prospect in their composite rankings.
Prior to committing to Louisville, Lyle received heavy interest from many Big Ten schools, as well as Florida and North Carolina State. It will be interesting to see if the five-star guard commits to another program in the next few months or honors his original pledge to the defending national champions.
The Cardinals have two players, Shaqquan Aaron and Jaylen Johnson, still committed for 2014.
