Connecticut Huskies forward Tyler Olander was suspended indefinitely after being arrested for a DUI, but the DUI charges have been dropped, the New Haven Register reported on Monday.

The senior forward was suspended indefinitely earlier in September after being arrested for a DUI, and driving without a license.

The Huskies suspended the senior forward indefinitely earlier in September for violating team rules after his second run-in with the law in the past year. Olander was pulled over by the police and reportedly failed a field sobriety test. He pleaded guilty to driving without a license on Monday, but the DUI charges were dropped after two Breathalyzer tests showed he blew under the legal limit of 0.08.
Connecticut hasn’t reinstated Olander to the team, but the forward is hoping that with the legal troubles behind him he can get back to playing basketball.
“That’s my goal, and God willing, I’ll be back,” he said. “I hope people don’t see these past incidents as a reflection of who I am. I hope they see me as a good kid that just made some mistakes, as everybody does.”
Although Olander never stuffed the stats box, his suspension from the team put the Huskies frontcourt on very thin ice. Connecticut is chalk full around the perimeter with guards Shabazz Napier, Ryan Boatright and Omar Calhoun, but they lack any sort of experience in the front court.
If Olander remains off the team, the Huskies will turn to sophomores Phillip Nolan and Leon Tolksdorf, with freshmen Kentan Facey and Amida Brimah figuring into the equation somehow.
