Arizona State Sun Devils guard Jahii Carson has a stress reaction in his right tibia and will be sidelined in practice, Gary Parrish with CBS Sports reported on Monday.

Carson texted CBS Sports, saying his shins were killing him, but he isn’t panicking. The Sun Devils are taking extra precautions with their star player as well, with a source close to the program telling CBS Sports limiting Carson’s practice is mainly a precautionary measure.

The House of Sparky reports that Carson lifted weights and had a limited role in practice on Monday, but that head coach Herb Sendek said if the Sun Devils had a game, he would be playing.

The Pac-12 named Carson one of the freshmen of the year after he averaged 18.5 points and 5.1 rebounds a game. He led the Pac-12 in total points scored, minutes per game, field goals attempted and field goals made.

There is a lot of hype surrounding the young guard for his sophomore campaign. He was named as a CBS Sports’ third-team preseason All-American. He was named to The Sporting News’ preseason second team All-American team and was called one of the top five sleeper All-Americans by USA Today.
