In a high-scoring affair, the California Bears outdueled the Oregon Ducks on Thursday night in Eugene, 96-83. Cal's Jordan Matthews and Oregon's Joseph Young battled back and forth from the guard position, with Matthews leading all players in scoring with 32.

Cal has now won 12 straight games against Oregon, rallying behind the hot shooting of Jordan Matthews.


Cal pulled away in the second half as Matthew piled on the points. The freshman guard set a new career high, blowing past the 22-point mark he set against UC Santa Barbara. Point guard Justin Cobbs had a nice game as well, adding 11 assists to his 20 points.
For the Ducks, Young was the star as usual. But the junior’s 29 points weren’t enough push Oregon past the resilient Bears. Cal shot 53.3 percent for the game and was tenacious in the paint, tallying 12 offensive rebounds.
After a 13-0 start, the Ducks are now 13-2 and 1-2 in Pac-12 play. From here, Oregon will stay at home to face Stanford on Sunday. Cal improves to 11-4 with their third straight victory, all over conference opponents.
