UCLA freshman Zach LaVine has big night against Arizona State

LaVine has been filling it up all season long, but Sunday night’s performance against the Sun Devils might’ve been his best performance yet.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

UCLA freshman Zach LaVine went off against Arizona State on Sunday night. He dropped 15 points on 6-for-7 shooting in the first 10 minutes of the game, propelling the Bruins to an easy win.

Here were some of his highlights from the game, starting a fast break windmill slam, adding to his long list of highlight reel dunks this season:

Next up was this layup, as he breezed through the ASU defense to avoid a charge, pushing the Bruins up 14 midway through the first half:

LaVine finished the night with 19 points on 8-for-12 shooting, and he hit all three of his three-point attempts. The win improved UCLA to 13-3 on the season.

The lanky freshman has been overlooked all season long. Blame it on an east coast bias or there just being a lot of good freshmen this year, but LaVine deserves to be in the national picture as one of the top “diaper dandies,” to channel Dick Vitale, in the country.
