The top five in the Associated Press’ college basketball rankings remained steady, but after that, the Jan. 6 release of the poll included a number of shakeups.
College basketball rankings: Duke falls, San Diego State rises
The San Diego State Aztecs moved up eight spots in the rankings after a big win against the Kansas Jayhawks.

Arizona earned 60 first-place votes after beating Washington State and Washington this weekend — the Wildcats held the former to a McKale Center low 25 points. The second-place Syracuse Orange earned five first-place votes and were followed by a trio of Big Ten schools in the Ohio State Buckeyes, Wisconsin Badgers and Michigan State Spartans.
It was the San Diego State Aztecs making the biggest leap this week after a monumental victory against the Kansas Jayhawks. Steve Fisher's crew moved from 21st to 13th in the poll. SDSU's win ended KU's 68-game winning streak in Allen Fieldhouse against non-conference opponents. After the loss, Kansas fell from No. 16 to No. 18.
The biggest drop came from the Duke Blue Devils, who fell from No. 7 to No. 16 in this week's poll after losing at Notre Dame. The Oklahoma State Cowboys also fell out of the top-10, moving from sixth to 11th in the rankings following a loss to the Kansas State Wildcats. KSU entered the top-25, as did Illinois.
UConn and North Carolina, which last week were ranked No. 17 and No. 19 respectively, fell out of the top-25.
