Nick Johnson dominated his matchup with Jordan Adams, scoring 22 in Pauley Pavilion in a victory for the top-ranked team in the country.

The No. 1 Arizona Wildcats took their brutish brand of basketball to Southern California on Thursday, knocking off the UCLA Bruins, 79-75. Arizona guard Nick Johnson had 22 points on a hot shooting day for the junior guard. At 16-0, Arizona tied its best start in school history, matching the 1931-32 squad.

UCLA made a late push, taking a one-point lead with less than three minutes to go. But Arizona finished strong and secured the win as the Bruins went cold from the field.

Johnson was 9-of-15 from the field as the Wildcats shot 53 percent as a team, outpacing an overmatched Bruins squad. Center Kaleb Tarczewski was perfect from his post position, making all six of his shots and collecting eight rebounds.

UCLA was hindered by cold shooting nights from their two stars, Kyle Anderson and Jordan Adams. The backcourt mates shot a combined 10-of-30, well below their season averages.

No. 1 Arizona takes its undefeated record to USC on Sunday, looking to sweep their annual road series in Southern California. The Wildcats were beaten by both UCLA and USC on the road last season.
