UNC’s Marcus Paige missed ACC media day because of an exam

They’re really cracking down in Chapel Hill, huh?

If Marcus Paige isn’t the best returning player in college basketball this season, he’s certainly one of them. With Paige’s North Carolina squad entering the season as a consensus top-10 team, it would make sense that the point guard would be a main attraction at ACC Media Day on Wednesday. Only one thing got in the way:

The timing of this is, well, kind of funny. With so much controversy floating around the Tar Heels' academic scandal the last week, the jokes write themselves.

Paige enters his junior season after averaging 17.5 points and 4.2 assists per game last season. If he he can follow up his breakout sophomore year with another strong campaign, there’s a good chance he’ll be cashing checks in the NBA soon and not trying to solve quadratic equations before 10 a.m.
