Jahlil Okafor made his college debut on Friday night and showed why many believe he will be the first pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. OK, so Presbyterian wasn’t the best first test for Duke, but Okafor still dominated offensively in a 113-44 blowout win.
Okafor finished the game with 19 points, six rebounds and four assists on 9-of-10 shooting from the field. He also helped hold William Truss, Presbyterian’s starting center, to four points on 1-of-4 shooting on the night.
Okafor is just one of four McDonald’s All-Americans entering Duke this season, and off of them shined on Friday. Point guard Tyus Jones finished with 15 points and seven assists on 6-of-8 while Justise Winslow put up 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting.
Duke’s first real test will come on Tuesday it faces Michigan State in the Champions Classic. Michigan State survived a close game against Navy on Friday to open its season with a 64-59 win.
