UPDATE: St. John’s pulled away in the second half :( :( :( They won 94-81
St. John’s was losing to the D-II Franklin Pierce Ravens
Franklin Pierce, the 14th President of the United States, died in 1869, and he’s beating St. John’s tonight.
ORIGINAL POST: A lot of early-season games feature Division II and NAIA teams playing Division I teams. Through the first three days of the season, Division I teams are 60-0. (Memphis’ loss to Christian Brothers was an exhibition, and did not count.) That could change tonight.
Yup, Division II Franklin Pierce -- the Ravens! -- are leading St. John’s at the half in the preseason NIT fixture, thanks to a 21-point half by Ryen Vilmont. Vilmont drained 5-of-6 threes and Franklin Pierce led by as much as eight.
Coming in, I saw no way this was possible:
Honestly I think he’s gonna be a little bit outmatched. I mean he died in 1869 pic.twitter.com/nagcx8S349

If you must know: Franklin Pierce is located in Rindge, N.H., Pierce’s home state, and is home to 1,400 undergrads. Temple Grandin went there!
