Kentucky is playing UT Arlington on Tuesday and predictably opened up a big lead in the first half. John Calipari went to his second unit midway through the first half, but three straight turnovers forced Cal to pull the plug on the second platoon after just 1:42. After the starters checked back in, Cal quickly decided to put freshman Trey Lyles -- the nominal small forward on platoon No. 2 -- in for Alex Poythress.
Proof:
Platoon 1 pushes lead to 13-5 on Andrew Harrison and-one, Cauley-Stein tip in. But Poythress subbed out for Lyles again after 1:22.
