College basketball recruiting roundup: Isaiah Briscoe’s decision is coming

Will it be Kentucky, St. John’s or UConn for Briscoe?

USA TODAY Sports

The Isaiah Briscoe sweepstakes will reach a resolution soon. The five-star recruit will commit in the early signing period from Nov. 12-19, according to Adam Zagoria.

Briscoe cut his list of schools to St. John’s, Kentucky and UConn at the end of October. Jeremy Schneider reportedthat recently St. John’s looked like the leading candidate for the star guard, but now Kentucky is the favorite.

247Sports’ Crystal Ball disagrees. It has St. John’s at a 54 percent chance at landing him, and Kentucky next at 36 percent. Zagoria additionally detailed that Briscoe’s college announcement will be on the family of ESPN networks, and that it will “possibly” be on Nov. 13

Here’s the rest of the latest recruiting news around college basketball.

Jaylen Brown

Brown, a five-star recruit and 247Sports’ second best player in the 2015 class, will trip to Michigan and North Carolina for official visits and Georgia and Georgia Tech for unofficial visits, according to Adam Zagoria. The 6’7 forward recently visited Kansas, Kentucky and UCLA.

Brown has mentioned numerous times in the past that he has talked with Carlton Bragg and Brandon Ingram about a potential package deal for college. Bragg and Ingram are eyeing Kansas, Kentucky and UCLA as potential landing spots, among others. Zagoria also reported that Brown is planning on making his college decision in the spring, joining other elite prospects, who will do the same.

Tyus Battle

Tyus Battle made the first cut earlier this week in the long list of schools that have given him an offer. Adam Zagoria publicized that the schools on his new list are UConn, Duke, Florida, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Syracuse, Villanova and Virginia.

Recently John Calipari of Kentucky, Billy Donovan of Florida and Rick Pitino of Louisville have payed him a visit. Battle visited UConn, Michigan, Kentucky and Louisville in the summer, and recently Kentucky, Duke and Syracuse. 247Sports says that Duke has the greatest probability of receiving his commitment.

Diamond Stone

Diamond Stone announced on Twitter this week that he will make his college decision on Nov.21. The consensus number one center in the 2015 class is considering UConn, Wisconsin, Maryland and Oklahoma State, and he tripped to UConn last weekend for his final official visit.

Zagoria also reported that UConn’s head coach Kevin Ollie visited Stone on Wednesday following Stone’s visit. DeShawn Curtis, who is the coach for the Wisconsin Legends AAU team (Stone’s AAU team), told Zagoria though that all the schools he went on official visits to visited him after. Stone’s home team, Wisconsin is second in 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions, only to be topped by UConn.

Antonio Blakeney

The Louisville decommit and five-star prospect, Antonio Blakeney will visit LSU this weekend, for the school’s football game against Alabama. Blackemy visited Kentucky recently, and told Evan Daniels that he plans on visiting North Carolina and N.C. State. JaQuan Lyle, who is ranked as the fortieth best player in the 2014 class, committed to Oregon, but was removed from the team’s roster in September. The four-star guard will visit LSU as well for the game.

Zagoria reported that Lyle, the former Louisville commit like Blackeney, is considering Indiana, Missouri and Oregon. Blakeney mentioned to Daniels that he does not know when he will make his college decision, but that it is likely he makes it late decision.
