No. 16 Michigan had already overcome a 19-point deficit on the road against Purdue. But with three seconds to go in overtime, the Wolverines needed one more basket to escape with a win over the desperate Boilermakers.
Michigan beats Purdue on circus layup from Glenn Robinson III
That basket came on an acrobatic play from Glenn Robinson III just before the buzzer sounded.
First, he skied to catch a wild inbounds pass on the right baseline. Then he took one bounce, jumped between two defenders and threw the ball off the glass to give Michigan a 77-76 win.
Robinson’s heroics gave Michigan its 20th win of the season as the Wolverines seem to have stabilized after dropping three out of five earlier in the month. They lead Michigan State by a game for first place in the Big Ten standings with three to play.
