There’s a deep field in this year’s Conference USA Basketball Tournament, and with just one team likely to go dancing from the league this March, we should be in for some terrific action at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso.
Conference USA Basketball Tournament 2014: Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss lead deep field
With 15 teams from Conference USA in the mix, there will be a ton of basketball played at the Don Haskins Center this week. Who will get the automatic bid to the Big Dance?

Louisiana Tech comes in as the No. 1 seed after winning the tiebreaker over Southern Miss. The Bulldogs are one of the top defensive teams in the country, ranking 22nd nationally in Pomeroy’s defensive efficiency ratings. They also like to really push the tempo on offense, and it shows on the scoreboard as they average about 81 points per game.
Southern Miss is the No. 2 seed and is considered another one of the favorites to cut the nets down. The Golden Eagles are a well-rounded club with plenty of experience on the roster. USM is really balanced offensively, with five players averaging between nine and 11 points per game.
