While No. 1 seed Virginia and its lockdown defense won't get started until Friday at noon, Wednesday marks the beginning of the 2014 ACC Tournament. Seeds 10 through 15 -- yes, this is the biggest ACC tourney ever -- will battle at Greensboro Coliseum on opening day, and you can watch all of it on ESPN2 and the ACC Network.
ACC Tournament 2014 schedule and bracket: Wake Forest and Notre Dame get things started
The 2014 ACC Tournament is here, with three games on Wednesday to open the festivities.

The first game features No. 12 Wake Forest against No. 13 Notre Dame. These teams finished with identical 6-12 conference records and, when they met on Jan. 25, Wake Forest held the Fighting Irish to 39.3 percent shooting and earned a 65-58 win. Unfortunately for the Demon Deacons, they then went on to lose their next seven games. Both teams ended their regular seasons with losses -- Notre Dame lost 63-61 at North Carolina and Wake Forest fell 69-56 to Miami. In that game, inconsistent Demon Deacons senior forward Travis McKie was held to just five points.
After that, No. 10 Miami will face No. 15 Virginia Tech in what is a bit of a strange matchup. The Hurricanes are the higher seed, but they dropped both of their games to the Hokies this season. Virginia Tech finished with a 2-16 record in the ACC, meaning its only in-conference victories all year long were against Miami. In their first meeting, the Hokies eked out a one-point overtime win; in the second, they led throughout and held the Hurricanes to 25.9 percent shooting. This might be a more difficult game than you’d expect for the No. 10 seed.
Finally, No. 11 Georgia Tech and No. 14 Boston College. The Yellow Jackets won both of their previous meetings with the Eagles, even with leading scorer Trae Golden sitting out the second one. Georgia Tech is coming off wins against Virginia Tech and Syracuse, while Boston College is coming off losses to North Carolina State and Florida State.
