ACC basketball tournament 2014 schedule and bracket: Virginia, Syracuse, Duke make tournament debuts
The ACC tournament continues on Friday with quarterfinal action. Here’s the complete schedule for Friday.

The Virginia Cavaliers earned the No. 1 seed after winning their sixth regular season ACC title. They are looking to win the conference tournament for the first time since 1976. They face the No. 9 Florida State Seminoles, who sent the Maryland Terrapins packing with a buzzer beater dunk on Thursday. Virginia swept Florida State in the regular season, winning both games by 12 points.
The next game up pits the North Carolina Tar Heels against the Pittsburgh Panthers. UNC made it through a roller-coaster season to get the No. 4 seed and will look to repeat their performance from their 75-71 win over Pitt in February. Both teams are likely going to the NCAA Tournament, but the Panthers can strengthen their case with a win or two over the weekend. They ended Wake Forest's tournament run in dramatic fashion, crushing the Demon Deacons 84-55 in the second round.
The Miami Hurricanes won the ACC tournament last year, but they won't get a chance to defend their title after being knocked out by the N.C. State Wolfpack, 67-58. Miami dropped to 17-16 and will not be dancing this year. The Wolfpack are still clinging to the bubble, led by ACC Player of the Year T.J. Warren, but they have to face the Syracuse Orange. N.C. State can take comfort in the fact that they made Syracuse sweat in their last game, losing by just one point back when the Orange were ranked first in the nation.
The No. 6 Clemson Tigers held off a valiant effort from the 13-seed Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, beating them 69-65 in overtime. K.J. McDaniels led Clemson with 18 points, and Damarcus Harrison scored six of his 12 points in the extra period in the win. Clemson advances to face the third-seeded Duke Blue Devils in the nightcap on Friday night.
