Just four teams remain in the MEAC Conference Tournament after Thursday’s quarterfinal round saw No. 3 seed Morgan St. defeat sixth-ranked Florida A&M and fourth-ranked Norfolk St. ease by the No. 5 seed Savannah St.

Morgan St. pulled away from Florida A&M in the second half of their contest, outscoring the Rattlers 50-39 after halftime. Justin Black led all scorers with 29 points, knocking down three of his six three-point attempts, to go along with nine rebounds and three assists. Ian Chiles and Cedric Blossom added 15 and 12 points apiece for the Bears. Morgan St. will now play seventh-ranked Coppin St. on Friday night after the Eagles upset No. 2 seed Hampton on Wednesday.

In Thursday's second semifinal game, Norfolk St. beat Savannah St. 57-47, pulling away after taking a one-point lead into halftime. Pendarvis Williams led Norfolk St. with 20 points, going seven for 11 from the floor. The Spartans led by just one point with 12:35 remaining, but a 13-0 run gave them a 14-point lead they would never relinquish. Norfolk St. will play top-ranked N.C. Central on Friday with a trip to Saturday's championship game on the line.

Norfolk St. and N.C. Central will play in Friday’s first semifinal contest at 6:00 p.m., while Morgan St. and Coppin St. will follow at 8 p.m. In their only meeting this year, Norfolk St. fell to N.C. Central in a tight game, 76-70. In their two games earlier this February, Morgan St. defeated Coppin St. in both contests, 82-77 and 78-69.
