Syracuse misses 6 shots during hilarious final possession in loss to N.C. State

Syracuse won its first 25 games and held down the No. 1 ranking for much of the year, but the Orange's season eventually fell off the rails. 'Cuse lost four of six to close the regular season, including bad home defeats to Boston College and Georgia Tech. The Orange were trying to use the ACC Tournament as a way to get back on track before the Big Dance, but ... so much for that.

Down three with the ball and 20 seconds left, Syracuse had a chance to send the game to overtime or get a quick bucket and turn it into a free throw contest. The Orange missed. Then they missed again and again and again and again and again. Six misses on the last possession! “Yakety Sax” might seem overused as a way of soundtracking every #fail, but it’s truly fitting here.

It might be even more impressive that N.C. State won after allowing five offensive rebounds on the final possession. That is not a sensible way of winning in crunch time, but then again nothing about the end of this game was sensible.

This was basketball chaos. It nearly drove the editor of our prized N.C. State blog Backing the Pack to the brink:

Now a quick word from our Syracuse blog:

Nice to see everyone having such a good time. Go sports.
