For those who don’t plan on doing a ton of research, here are some quick pointers:
- Outside of top-seeded Florida and Wichita State, the two hottest teams (read: the two teams playing their best basketball of the season by far) are Louisville and Michigan State, which are both No. 4 seeds. They're trendy picks to win it all.
- Arizona is the best defensive team in the country, according to Pomeroy. Creighton is the best offensive team. Both teams are in the West region and could meet in the Elite 8.
- Looking for Cinderella? 12-seeded Stephen F. Austin hasn't lost a game since Nov. 23.
- Kansas, a No. 2 seed, is not expected to have star freshman center Joel Embiid until at least the second weekend of play should they advance that far. The Jayhawks went 22-6 with Embiid healthy, but lost three of their final five games with him on the bench.
- New Mexico State has a guy who is 7'5 and 350 pounds: Sim Bhullar.
