NIT 2014 schedule and bracket: Louisiana Tech travels to Georgia
The two sets of Bulldogs battle for a spot in the NIT’s final eight.

The NIT resumes with one second-round game on Saturday. Louisiana Tech and Georgia meet Saturday at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga., with a quarterfinals spot on the line.
Georgia, a No. 2 seed, advanced out of the first round with a 63-56 home win over Vermont on Wednesday. Guard Charles Mann led the way for the Bulldogs (20-13) with a fantastic shooting night. Mann was 8-of-11 from the field, including one three-pointer, and 12-of-13 from the free throw line to put up a game-high 29 points. He added five rebounds, three assists and one steal. Forward Marcus Thornton was the only other Georgia player to score in double-figures, adding 16 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor and 8-of-8 from the foul line.
Third-seeded Louisiana Tech (28-7) escaped a first-round upset with a 89-88 victory over Iona. After a missed jumper by Alex Hamilton, Kenneth Smith put back the rebound with 2.2 seconds left to give Mark White's team the win. Smith filled up the stat sheet, compiling 14 points, six assists, five rebounds and five steals. Every Tech starter scored at least 12 points, and Jaron Johnson led the team with 15.
Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. ET, and the game will air on ESPN. An updated NIT bracket is available here.
